[interviewee's note: I'd met Madeleine at least twice before this interview was conducted over the phone from the Brooklyn College radio station that the program was aired live over. I'm sure Madeleine asked me in advance to do the interview & that I even knew what time it would be but, for some reason, I think I was still asleep until shortly before it happened & was very tired during it.
Despite that, my explanation of the difference between neoism & the Neoist Alliance explains it wonderfully - even if no-one 'gets it' other than myself.
Nonetheless, this is one of those interviews that I listen to & think something like: 'OOH! I wish I'd said _____!" I wish I'd explained that the Patriot Act has been a disaster for Arab-Americans & has enabled the spiriting away of people without trial, etc, etc.. My point was more that the good ole boys of the U, S, of A have been able to murder people with impunity from the get-go & that entirely too few people have paid attention.
Furthermore, in the meantime, people like myself aren't necessarily suppressed by the state, we're suppressed by that pseudo-bastion of 'liberality': the art world - the perfect example of ambitious 'soul-less' people making sure that whatever show they put on is nothing that'll actually get in the way of business-as-usual because business-as-usual is what fills their feed-trough.
I think the interviewers, with the best intentions, were expecting me to just say things about how suppressed 'freedom of speech' in the art world is by those Patriot Act boogie-men & were a bit surprised by my slightly less than knee-jerk response. Saying that prosecutors are intrinsically sociopaths is not really the typical bourgeois critical position. - September 3, 2014 notes from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE]
