WAFER FACE WAFER FACE WAFER FACE

wafer 1: "LOUISIANA COOKIN' / FERNANDO"

From the WMPG (Portland, Maine) broadcasts of The Plagiarist. One side's a 'tribute' to politician-bigot David Duke and movie star-bigot John Wayne; the other side's a regurgitation of the hit by 70s Swedish pop sensation ABBA. The first in Wafer Face's Slug series.

(7" 45rpm $3)

wafer 2: "144 REASONS FOR THE ELIMINATION OF TELEVISION / PORTABLE ANARCHY"

Dad's New Slacks was the other experimental radio show on WMPG, and the 144 Reasons is taken from that. Busyditch is a sound artist from E. Rutherford, NJ who was often heard on Dad's show. 2 concrete pieces especially collected for this single. Slug #2.

(7" 45rpm $3)

wafer 3: "THE OFFICIAL WAFER FACE RECORD"

The "Official" Project, founded in Baltimore by instrument alchemist Neil Feather & mad scientist tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE, was a 4 year exercise in the discipline of CAMUs (Cue Activated Modular Units). This LP is residue from their 'big band' phase - involving 17 players. Excerpts from 'live' & studio recordings. Comes with detailed 28 page booklet.

(12" 33rpm $10)

wafer 4: "THE PLAGIARIST TRIO. APPEARANCE"

Live recordings of Mr. Plague improvising with Russian pianist Leo Loginov and a host of skipping records and special guests. Side A digitally recorded at the New Music America festival in Portland, October 1992; side B edited from various venues in and around Moscow later that same fall.

(12" 33rpm $10)

wafer 5: "THE ROCK CRITIC / I CAN'T DO IT (AGAIN)"

On Slug #3, radio wunderkind YOUR HOST BOBBY (last seen in Seattle) unmasks the inherent hipocracy of rock journalism, while Iowa's Platzangst give the tape-Beatles a taste of their own medicine.

(7" 45rpm $3)

wafer 6: "ABSINTHE RADIO TRIO"

The Plagiarist, Leo Loginov, Dad and Mr. Clean indulge in fangerous on-air experiments involving contraband substances and unusual sound effects. Recorded one hazy Wednesday night at WMPG radio, also in October '92, making it the essential companion disk to Wafer 4.

(12" 33rpm $10. special double-disk deal: wafers 4+6, both for $15 - plagiarist trio set)

wafer 7: "COLLAPSED CAUTION / FREE RADIO"

The most recent Slug (#4) collects the best broadcasts from the San Francisco Bay Area, with Len DiFranza's collage style on one side and a collective piece from Free Radio Berkeley on the other.

(7" 45rpm $3)

[I don't know whether this one's actually been released yet]

wafer 8: "USIC MINUS THE SQUARE ROOT OF NEGATIVE ONE"

Production OVERKILL picture-disk chronicles the audio works of tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE over an 18 year period. An audio/conceptual obstacle course of CircumSubstantial playing to a degree of Speculative-Fidelity dedication rarely encountered. Instrumentation includes blade(s) of grass, ringing rocks, broken records, remakes of "THE OFFICIAL WAFER FACE RECORD" (specially made & recorded by Colin Hinz), bottles, street drunks, inane vocals, piano, electronics, etc.. Complete with Double Grooves & Lock Grooves & recordings in the Wind-Off Groove Area, etc.. With exhaustive poster-essay with pop-up cock & fake cum explaining the tracks & cONVENIENCE's audio experiments from 1974-1994ev.

(12" 33rpm $15. special double-disk deal: wafers 3+8, both for $22 - tENT set)

wafer 9: "PURPLE ENTRAPMENT"

The first new recordings from Michigan's Rascal Reporters in several years, and both their own and Wafer Face's first CD, this disc is an amazing wealth of catchy melodies, rhytms and ideas from America's preeminent challengers to the European heavyweight progressive tradition. Recalling the best moments of early Genesis, Egg and even the Beach Boys, the Rascals make sense of the seemingly oceanic gulch between experimental music and beautiful song writing. Perhaps the duo's best work yet.

(compact disc $15)

[March 15, 2012 note: Wafer Face has long sicne ceased to exist & I doubt that one cd get copies of these thru writing the publisher anymore. Good luck in finding them!]
