1978. fingerprinting by tentatively, a convenience
This is a prime example of what I call a "Concrete Essay" (as opposed to a "Concrete Poem"). The word "fingerprinting" is repeated in 6 columns (possibly a 6-fingered reference) with 8 words in each column (for the 8 fingers - the thumb being considered in its own category). The text then continues in the outline of the hands with the thumbs being outlined in blue & with only the word "printing" appearing in them to, again, distinguish them from fingers. I then used my fingers to lift the wet typewriter ink off the page & to then fingerprint with them on other parts of the page in a biomorphic deviation from the more rigid columns.
