Communities &/or Undergrounds

After a long time of being involved in various purposeful communities & undergrounds, it occurs to me that I've probably produced one of the largest bodies of documentation about these social groupings that's ever likely to be made about them. Whether anyone other than myself cares about this or not is a different story. I want to make this website partially to call attn to this body of work b/c I think that my labor has been taken for granted & I want to make the particulars more public & organized in the hope that this taking-for-granted won't always be the case.

To give an example of what I want to counteract: I participated in the 1st 10 Polish Hill May Day Parades, I gave speeches at 8 of them, I made 15 relevant movies about the overall parades, individual parades, & my speeches & participation in the night-before cabarets - &, yet, when there was talk of having a showing of parade movies an unfinished work by one of the members of the 'clique' was discussed, no mention was made of me. Adding insult to injury, on the website advertising the parade a 30 second clip shot with a cell-phone from the sidewalk as the parade passed was used to show what the parade is. No links were made to any of my much more creatively made & thorough documentaries were provided.

Why? In my opinion, 1. because the people putting the website together had only superficial knowledge, 2. because their concern wasn't with much more than boosting their friends.

Community is promoted by the politically minded (& others) as what creates a politically effective solidarity ("The People, United, Will Never Be Defeated!") - but is that what happens? Sadly, I think 'community' can all-too-easily just turn into a conformist mob. In other words, people find themselves in communities because of`a natural gravitation to like-mindedness. That makes sense - but a 'normalizing' effect takes place: individuality is squeezed out by peer pressure & the more instituionalized a 'community' becomes the more dogmatic & intolerant it becomes. Most people, IMNAHO (In My Not Always Humble Opinion) are too weak & cowardly to resist this process - if they even notice it happening.

Hence, I prefer UNDERGROUNDS - although "Communities" is still useful as a more general term. I tend to credit Undergrounds as having more integrity thanks to membership in them being more proactive & less casual. However, the dividing line between Undergrounds & Communities is fluid & ambiguous. Below, I'm going to start listing people that I've made movies with &/or about &/or written about. These are the people that I've shared community or underground with. They were all friends at one time. Most of them are probably unaware of just how much I've documented their activities. For the most part, I documented what I did because it was collaborative - but I've gone beyond that too. At some point, some of these people might want to reflect on their life & might be astounded at how much they can find about themselves thru my documentation. I think it's important, they might not yet but may eventually.

This website will probably never be finished. There are THOUSANDS of people to be represented. Even in cases where I link to a movie of mine where people are shown who I remember I probably won't list them unless I'm fairly sure I remember their name correctly - which, in some instances, I won't. Today, as I'm starting this, is December 28, 2025. As of 4 days ago, On December 24, 2025, I was vomiting blood. This wasn't from riotous living, I actually am fairly careful with this body. I'm not confident that I'm going to live much longer. Friends, of course, try to encourage me to go to a doctor. However, it's my firm feeling that: "I don't want to be KEPT ALIVE, I want to BE ALIVE" so if it's time for this body to cease to function, so-be-it - I don't want to settle for less than full-on-living. ANYWAY, the categories of communities & undergrounds under which people are grouped below are woefully inadequate but probably acceptable to most of the people so-labelled. Some people are listed under more than one category, these are the people whose diversity of interests are more likely to appeal to me.

In some cases, I don't know the people listed, they're here because a friend of mine shot a Philosopher's Union Member's Mouthpiece of them as part of my project. The camerapeople don't appear in the movies but the movie is linked to under their name because they made the movie. As of the 1st uploading, the names haven't been slotted into categories yet. They probably will be eventually.
