tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE BIBLIOGRAPHY

('all-inclusive')

as of August 2017e.v.

This bibliography should eventually include everything published of mine that I have info about - including single-sheet publications & post-cards & other such small things. However, it's unlikely that it'll ever be complete because there's just so much & I don't feel like dedicating the time to going thru it all & organizing it any more than I already have (wch is pretty extensively). In the case of the smaller publications of mine that were mostly made as mailings when I was a prolific PIN-UP (Postal Interaction Network - Underground Participant), the dates are best-guess approximations made as much as 30+ yrs later. Entry styles are somewhat inconsistent because this particular Bibilography has been cobbled together from 2 other Bibliographies & otherwise added to. It probably WON'T include recyclings of 'my' material by 'other people'. Once something that I've 'created' enters collective productivity thru 'plagiarism' (especially done under such names as Monty Cantsin & Karen Eliot) it's no longer (dominantly) 'mine'. Curious scholars can find most of these recyclings in SMILE & its variations. Also excluded are "add-to-&-send-on" publications because of my lack of adequate records regarding them. One of these latter that I recall is the "SMILE - EMIL" originating from Mark Pawson in London, England in 1985. Uneasy inclusions are photocopies & offset printings of articles written about me or that mention me, mostly published in newspapers, more recently sometimes published online. There was a time when I photocopied most of these to send out as mailings. I include many of these here - selecting them or rejecting them with a somewhat vague editorial criteria. If the article includes images of something I made then I include it, if I was interviewed for it then I include it, if I corrected info on it before copying it then I include it, if I worked with the photographer for the article (I'm usually very particular about how I'm photographed) then I include it. I've even decided to include most of the stationery that I've designed & printed. W/ such a broad inclusivity, I'm bound to've left many things out that belong here.

As of April 5, 2015, I've gone thru all my "Multiples" file cabinet drawers & listed everything relevant from them there. The shorter Goodreads reviews still aren't listed here (that might mean over 900 more entries) but this is now incredibly inclusive. I found quite a few interesting things I'd long since forgotten about. There're undoubtedly things missing such as, possibly, a recent Film Kitchen article wch may or may not qualify, & definitely some stationery that I might not've found in the file cabinet drawers but this is still very comprehensive. I could, someday, include all the Film Kitchen program notes (I have one here?) but so far I've mostly excluded those.

003. "1st"

- written as: michael frederick tolson et al

- I have no firm idea when I 1st wrote this or when I printed copies of it - since it appears to've been typed using an IBM Selectric typewriter, it cd've been made when I was typing up my 1st bk since I rented a Selectric for that (or it cd've been later when I had access to a Slectric thru Merzaum? or when I eventually had my own Selectric) - conceptually, it's like something I wd've thought of in the mid-to-late 1970s or early 1980s - however, given the unavailability of reasonable quality photocopying to me until, maybe, 1979, I probably didn't print these before then - also, the main time I wd've used the above name was when I was working on "t he bk.." (mid 1977)

- edition of 30

- 50 papers written by mostly astonishly stupid students at U.M.B.C. & a few slightly intelligent ones as reaction to a tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE screening & an uncert from The Official, April 29th, 1992EV, Band that does Accept Money from Institutions. Reads like the minutes to a lynch-mob meeting. Don't read this is you want an accurate description of either the screening or the group. DO read this is you want to find out that AC believes that "The mere fact that I am taking my, "end of the term, very precious" time to attend and write about what I considered disgusting pornography deserves an A+.!!!" or if you want to explore MW's psychoanalysis of "tilting the bottle to his mouth in a haughty and needlessly rebellious manner." Perhaps you'd even like to find out why M "cried and prayed" for us for 45 minutes after only witnessing 15 minutes of the screening. Or maybe you'd like to read about A after the show was over: "I could not figure out where I was on campus and which door was the exit." Some of the best proof I've ever seen that college students are hopelessly thoughtless sheep. It would be FUNNY if it weren't so REAL.

"The Art Strike, for Bannister, was not so much a rejection of the commodification of creativity as much as it was the commodification of itself accomplished by placing itself in pseudo-opposition to the only context in which it could be sold so that it could be sold within that context. Bannister could never have sold his talk to the Victoria & Albert Museum on the Art Strike if he'd contextualized it as "commodification resistance" (for example) & left out the "art" part."

[While I've previously had many things published online that weren't published elsewhere, it wasn't until the online version of "Mediumistic Projection of Heinrich Welz's Lines of Force" that I did something esp for someone else for the internet. In order for this Bibliography to really be accurate, I'd have to list the enormous amt of material already published on the net & subsequently renumber much of what's here. Instead, I've just previously listed what Florian Cramer put in the "seven" folder on the "of(f) the w.w.web" CD-ROM - lumping all that together.]

[I joined the online book nerd social network called "Goodreads" in October, 2007. Here's the link to my profile. While this has ads & I would prefer that it not, it's still preferable to me as a social networking site more so than, say, Facebook, because the focus is on READING so there's at least a little intellectual content - & I've 'met' some exceptionally intelligent people thru it. Thanks to this involvement, I've gradually reached a point where I review every book I read. At 1st, the reviews were just capsules in which I made little attempt to write anything of substance. That quickly changed & I now try to write something substantial in almost every review. This helps me to be an even more critical reader than I already was. Of the estimated 4,000+ books that I've read in my life so far (as of age 58) I've now listed about 1/4 of them & reviewed almost all of those. As such, these reviews have begun to constitute a major portion of my publicly available writing. Since listing the 861 reviews I've posted so far would more than TRIPLE the size of this list, I'm just treating the reviews as one entity in their entirety. HOWEVER, there're many reviews that're so meaty that they really deserve separate listing. Perhaps at a later date.]

[The "later date" mentioned above has finally come (as of January, 2014) insofar as I'm now going to try to add the "meatier" reviews on Goodreads that're so long that they have to be placed in the "My Writing" section of my profile instead of in the ordinary size-limited review places.]

[As of January 27, 2014, I created a new webpage called "Writing", an astonishingly generic name for me, to which I'll gradually upload writing of mine not generally available - starting with pieces from when I was in my 20s that few, or no, people have ever seen. Many of these don't really have titles so I just create a referent for them that consists of my guesstimate of when it was created followed by something simple to associate the piece w/ such as a 1st line or basic description.]
