1969. Totem
The cover of my 1st yearbook was, ahem, rather suggestive given that this symbol meant simultaneous mutual oral sex to most people I knew.
While 1969 was the year that the book was issued, after we'd made it through, & while our pictures were taken at the end of the school year (males were only photographed if we wore a suit), we actually wrote our bios at the beginning of the school year, in this case: 1968.
I wrote mine in Honors English Class. Sitting next to me was Paul Sybor. He didn't have any idea about what to write about himself so he asked me to do it. I leafed through a nearby dictionary & picked out the most abstruse words I found. That became 'his' statement about 'himself'. For my own entry I just called myself "indifferent" because a teacher had called me that in some dismay. I thought that the combination of these 2 'self-descriptions', neither of which were really self-descriptions, was funny.
Believe it or not, where I lived my hair was considered to be so long that people shouted out "Are yooouuu a buoy or uh gurl?!" People would also throw trash at me from their car windows & swerve as if they were going to hit me. "Manson", "Jesus", & "Faggot" were other popular things to be shouted at me from passing cars. No doubt, most of these people were Christians.
