m(usic(ian's))m(eetings)m(ovies)

The "mm"s are a series of m(usic(ian's))m(eetings) that've been held since the fall of 2011. Their purpose has been to revive what had been the lost pleasure in my life of hanging out with friends just to informally listen to, discuss, & play (m)usic. I've made some attempt to at least document every mm in some form or another. An index to these documents is here: mm. The extent to which I'm thorough in this process depends on how much time & energy I have for it - lately that hasn't been very much.

[These notes were originally written by tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE in mid-2016]

I have, however, made so many mm movies by now that they've become worthy of their own webpage just for links to them (not all of them are online but most of them are). Hence, this:

624. "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas"

- a 'primitive', but satisfactory, presentation of tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE's 3rd 'opera'

- 2k, 60p

- 2:19:21

- mainly made from 2016-2017

- 'finished' & uploaded in mid-June,2020

- because this is so high-definition (215.07GB) it had to be broken into its 4 acts to upload to my onesownthoughts YouTube channel:

- "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas, Act 1" - 2k, 60p - 25:44 - 32:19GB - https://youtu.be/IYifS4vFq-Y

- "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas, Act 2" - 2k, 60p - 46:45 - 62:08GB - https://youtu.be/XSsiSqC0T1Q

- "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas, Act 3" - 2k, 60p - 54:23 - 93.56GB - https://youtu.be/xHWJH07x0Fo

- "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas, Act 4" - 2k, 60p - 12:29 - 27.25GB - https://youtu.be/MC9LAlcXtoI

502. a. "MM 76 RELEASE"

- shot using 4 cameras on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Glitter Box Theater by tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE with one additional iPhone provided by Noah Rectenwald of his section

- performers in order of appearance: Noah Rectenwald; Warren Burt; Ben Opie; tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE & Meg Graham; How Things Are Made (Matt Aelrmore & David Bernabo); Mike Boyd

- 1:28:38

- on my onesownthoughts YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/XuoZopfS4CQ

b. "MM 76 RELEASE (medium rare)"

c. "MM 76 RELEASE (well done)"

495. a. "MM 76 Ad"

- edit finished July 30, 2017

- 720p (1280X720 (16/9)) HD 60p

- 2:23

- This is the 1st time I uploaded something in the provided-for way using the editing program it was made in. Even though the online result is still ostensibly HD the file size is something like 8% of what the full file is.

- on my onesownthoughts YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/HDRS5RgAYzs

b. "MM 76 Ad"

- The way I typically upload files to the internet is NOT through the established built-in compression features available through the editing programs I use. Instead, I make versions of it which I upload uncompressed. This was fine when I was using older programs producing work not in HD. In this case, I was trying to make a version that wasn't too lo-def that was under the 500MB limit for Vimeo. This version failed in that respect because it's almost 1GB. Because I switched from 16/9 aspect ration to 4/3 aspect ratio, this version & the next have different spatial relationships than the above. Hence the version on YouTube is slightly different than the version on Vimeo.

- 720X540 (4/3) 29.97fps

- 2:23

c. "MM 76 Ad"

- 480X360 (4/3) 29.97fps

- 2:23

- on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/227607760

488. ""EL" IP"

- a quasi-documentary about the development of the ELsoftware for my 'opera' entitled "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas"

- software conceived of by tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE

- software developed by Roger Dannenberg with assistance from Tianyang Feng & Wynne Yao

- 1st footage shot February 7, 2016

- edit finished May 19, 2017

- 1700X1275 (4/3) HD

- 1:23:45

- on my onesownthoughts YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/fiAVrCNtKvQ

b. ""EL" IP (abridged)"

- the above version reduced to a single presentation of the 1st 6 paragraphs of the temporary libretto taken from the book entitled "Vanishing Voices - the extinction of the world's languages" by Daniel Nettle & Suzanne Romaine & my review thereof

- 12:06

- on the Internet Archive here: https://archive.org/details/ELIPabridged

b. "mm 75 presents: BIRD CALLS & SONGS" (ever so slightly corrected)

- the version I put on YouTube had an accidental repetition of an edit less than :06 long. While this was annoying to me, it wasn't worth going through another 3 days of turning the corrected version into a QuickTime movie.
