Top 100 Composers: Iancu Dumitrescu
I have a fair amount of recordings by Dumitrescu but I can't say I know his work very well at all. I was probably 1st impressed by the undiluted bassiness of pieces such as "Medium II", "Cogito-Trompe-L'Oeil", & "Aulodie Miortica (Gamma)" - all recorded on the RZ label by Fernando Grillo, a bassist whose solo record on Cramps (DIVerso No. 3) had deeply impressed me.
Dumiterscu's concentration on the lower register & his exploration of timbres that aren't always easy to pin down to specific instruments was enough to keep me intrigued & to distinguish him. - November 13, 2017 note from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
